udpfrag
Explanation
This Netography Fusion Portal security event detects a UDP fragmentation flood, which occurs when an attacker generates a large number of fragmented UDP packets towards a target system with the goal of overwhelming its resources and causing a denial of service (DoS) condition.
What to Look For
When examining the results of the udpfrag event, look for a high number of fragmented UDP packets being sent to a target system from a single IP address or a group of IP addresses. The event may include details such as source IP, destination IP, protocol, and packet size. To mitigate the attack, either block the offending IP address or adjust the firewall settings to limit the maximum number of fragmented UDP packets that can be accepted by the target system.
